FAQ - Hosted Exchange - New Accounts

How Do I Setup Outlook 2007 & 2010 On Hosted Exchange?

Description: Follow this document to setup a client on hosted exchange (ix.spro.net) using Outlook 2007.

  1. Ensure Outlook is closed
  2. Click Start
  3. Click Run
  4. Type: outlook /profiles
  5. Click OK
  6. Click New
  7. Type an appropriate name in the Profile Name field
  8. Click OK
  9. Select the Manually configure server settings or addition server types check box
  10. Select Microsoft Exchange
  11. Type hosting01.hosting.farm the in the Microsoft Exchange Server field
  12. Select Use Cached Exchange Mode
  13. Type the first name of the user in the User Name field
  14. Click More Settings
  15. Click Cancel if you are prompted with an error message stating that the exchange server cannot connect 

    NOTE: Do not press next; this will result in a long timeout and will push you back a step.

  16. Click the Security tab
  17. Select Encrypt data between exchange server checkbox
  18. Select Negotiate Authentication from the Logon network security drop down
  19. Click the Connection tab
  20. Click the Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP checkbox
  21. Click the Exchange Proxy Settings button
  22. Type ix.spro.net in the top https:// text box
  23. Check the Mutually Authenticate The Session With SSL Checkbox
  24. Type msstd:ix.spro.net in the Principal Name For The Proxy Server text box
  25. Check both check boxes On Fast Networks, On Slow Networks
  26. Select Basic Authentication from the proxy authentication settings dropdown
  27. Click OK

    NOTE: If you are prompted to restart Outlook, click OK. If not continue with the steps below.

  28. Click Next
  29. Click Finish

    NOTE: If you are prompted to connect to hosting01.hosting.farm, enter the user name and password of the account. The user name format is:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

  30. Re-Open Outlook
  31. Type in the email address and password
  32. Verify the account is working by doing a Send/Receive Test
