Description: Follow this document to setup a client on hosted exchange (ix.spro.net) using Outlook 2007.
- Ensure Outlook is closed
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Type: outlook /profiles
- Click OK
- Click New
- Type an appropriate name in the Profile Name field
- Click OK
- Select the Manually configure server settings or addition server types check box
- Select Microsoft Exchange
- Type hosting01.hosting.farm the in the Microsoft Exchange Server field
- Select Use Cached Exchange Mode
- Type the first name of the user in the User Name field
- Click More Settings
- Click Cancel if you are prompted with an error message stating that the exchange server cannot connect
NOTE: Do not press next; this will result in a long timeout and will push you back a step.
- Click the Security tab
- Select Encrypt data between exchange server checkbox
- Select Negotiate Authentication from the Logon network security drop down
- Click the Connection tab
- Click the Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP checkbox
- Click the Exchange Proxy Settings button
- Type ix.spro.net in the top https:// text box
- Check the Mutually Authenticate The Session With SSL Checkbox
- Type msstd:ix.spro.net in the Principal Name For The Proxy Server text box
- Check both check boxes On Fast Networks, On Slow Networks
- Select Basic Authentication from the proxy authentication settings dropdown
- Click OK
NOTE: If you are prompted to restart Outlook, click OK. If not continue with the steps below.
- Click Next
- Click Finish
NOTE: If you are prompted to connect to hosting01.hosting.farm, enter the user name and password of the account. The user name format is:

- Re-Open Outlook
- Type in the email address and password
- Verify the account is working by doing a Send/Receive Test
